Making education easier for Masoom students in India, one bike at a time

Pedal for a good cause! How a day of puzzles, bikes, and paint turned into a celebration of learning for children who deserve every opportunity.

All Wheel for Good

#ScilifeGivesBack by building bikes for an ONG in India.

Since we launched Scilife for Good, our commitment has been simple:
Every time we come together, someone else’s day should get a little brighter too.

After our Europe team building, during which we built bicycles and donated them to a Spanish charity supporting children in need in Africa, we arrived at our India team building, determined to keep that momentum going and do even more good.

This time, that promise led us into a challenge full of teamwork, laughter, logic puzzles… and a whole lot of heart.

Because the real prize wasn’t finishing the challenge, it was seeing the smiles waiting for the bikes on the other side.

From brain teasers to bike tires: A challenge with purpose

To kick off our Scilife Gives Back activity, we took on a bike-making challenge with a twist.
Before earning each bike part, our team of four had to solve a series of fun, clever quiz
questions.

Every correct answer brought us one step closer to completing a bicycle, a bicycle destined to brighten a child’s world.

It was teamwork at its finest: hands assembling, minds racing, and hearts fully in it.Scilifers doing puzzle to win bike parts and start building | Scilife

“The moment that really made me smile was when I was fitting the bike chain because it reminded me of riding bikes with my friends as a kid. We had one bike whose chain slipped constantly, and fixing it together became part of the fun. After we finished, everyone took turns riding the bikes, and it felt like the child in all of us came alive. The whole room’s energy changed. Remembering our own bike-riding days made me realise how special these bikes will be for the kids receiving them and how meaningful this small act of volunteering truly is.”

Partnering with NGO Masoom: Lighting up futures

Our collaboration for this initiative was with Masoom, an NGO transforming education for students who need it most.

Founded in 2008, Masoom focuses on providing quality education and opportunities to students, in particular, school dropouts who face major learning gaps. Its objective is to give them the tools, confidence, and environment to reclaim their education.

Today, Masoom operates:

  • 100 night schools
  • 29 evening learning centres across Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttarakhand
  • 6 tech-on-wheels buses providing mobile computer training
  • A career cell that has equipped over 5,000 students with skill-building programs

Their vision is bold and deeply needed: Reaching 3.2 crore school dropouts across India by 2040.

Knowing that our time and effort would touch even a small part of that mission made every bolt, screw, and puzzle solve feel meaningful.

“This was our best team-building meeting yet, where we did something different by giving back to society and creating meaningful change through our initiatives. As a company, seeing everyone come together to build bikes made me realize that our actions, no matter how small, truly matter. Each person’s effort added up to something bigger than any one of us could do alone. And it made me appreciate that when we put our hearts and hands into something together, we have the power to make a meaningful, positive difference in people’s lives.”

A surprise delivery

Once the bikes were complete, the most heartwarming moment of the day arrived:

We welcomed children from Masoom to receive their brand-new bicycles.

But the joy didn’t stop at two wheels.

Part of our team spent the afternoon painting beautiful canvases — colorful, heartfelt pieces created especially for the kids to take home.

We paired each artwork with a bag filled to the brim with goodies: chocolates, sweets, and little treats to make them smile just a bit wider.

“It was truly heartwarming to see everyone come together with such enthusiasm while building the bikes. The most meaningful moment, however, was seeing the kids’ faces at the end and hearing their stories. I’ll admit, I got a bit emotional, but it made me genuinely happy to know that we were able to help them in some way. It also inspired me to look for more opportunities to give back to the community on my own.”

Pedaling forward, together

As we wrapped up the day, surrounded by happy kids, one thing was clear:

Impact doesn’t always require grand gestures.

Scilife for Good continues to show us that when we roll up our sleeves together, we don’t just build bikes, we help build futures.

Here’s to more moments of kindness, creativity, and community. Here’s to more hands ready to help.

And if you’d like to join a team where purpose and people go hand in hand…
